Brothers, our Knight of The Month is truly a cheerful giver. Whenever you see Brother Carlos Chacaliaza he is always grinning ear to ear. Whether it is recruiting parishioners to participate in the K of C sponsored blood drives or preparing the team of men who are working the Renewal 9 Men’s Retreat, Brother Carlos’s joyful disposition is on display. He truly brings out the best in those who are around him. His sincere, joyous, approach to life is contagious.
Brother Carlos, ever so humble, was surprised that he was selected by our council officers as the Knight of the month. These are his words about being a member of our council: “I’m a Knight of Columbus since January 2025. My best friend is a Knight of Columbus at St. Nicholas. He always wanted me to join there, but I decided to join our beautiful community of Santiago de Compostela. I’m happy that I made that decision. In Santiago, I found a good group of gentlemen and more than that, a great community of brothers. I saw the wonderful labor they do to help and service others, especially the more in need. I’m happy for the support, encouragement and trust of my brothers in me and for growing together in our Faith. Please count on me if I’m available and as Don Bosco said: Let’s be “Good Christians and Honest Citizens”.”
Brother Carlos took the reins of managing our blood drives and has made a positive impact in the 2 blood drives he has run. The number of donors has increased, a new banner was made for the gazebo, and there has been greater participation from the Hispanic parishioners, all directly as a result of his leadership. The Renewal #9 weekend has reached its attendance capacity and is currently taking stand-by reservations due to the recruiting efforts of Brother Carlos and his team.
Brother Carlos’s joyful approach to life is something our council sees and appreciates. He has truly had a positive impact on Council 9487 and is most deserving of this recognition.
