KNIGHT OF THE MONTH

It is with great pleasure that I present council 9487’s August 2026 Knight of the Month award to our Brother Rich Farina. Since beginning my term as Grand Knight my philosophy for nominating a Knight of the Month candidate is I look for a brother who actively participates in our council activities but who also went above and beyond duty in some way during the previous month.
Brother Rich is an active member who wears his green Knight’s shirt to Sunday 8:30 Mass, regularly attends both the monthly business meeting and the monthly planning meeting, participates in our council’s events and his July outstanding activity was the coordinating of our council’s participation in the Lake Forest 4th of July parade.
RICHARD FARINA
For over 3 months Brother Rich attended parade committee city meetings helping in organizing the parade structure and events. He also communicated with our council’s officers as to what we needed to do to participate in the parade. He kept us informed on parade policies, regulations and logistic information. Finally Brother Rich was also able to get an exception for our council as each parade participant that was not a car club was only allowed 1 motor vehicle in the parade. Our council had 2 motor vehicles in our parade spot. Our council had a very good participation in the parade and many brothers feel it was our best showing in any of the 4th of July parades that we have been part of throughout the years. Brother Rich’s guidance is a key reason for this.
By participating in the Knights of Columbus Brother Rich feels that he has strengthened his relationship with Our Lord and with the Church. He has much respect for his fellow brothers as he sees them work together in doing acts of charity. Our Brother Rich stated that he is proud to be part of such a great organization with like-minded Catholic men.
